Three boys, one dog, one chinchilla…Sometimes, you just have to STOP…and Count To Ten.

Guess where the family is headed this weekend?

Oh yeah….the California State Fair in Sacramento.  The kids are excited about the rides, exhibits, but WE (parents) are MOST excited about the #RedCupShowdown!!!!

On Saturday, July 14th, from 11:00am-3:00pm, the Red Cup Showdown will begin.  (It’s actually already started with people “entering their favorite, most creative “delicious” coffee recipe for a chance to win ribbons, prizes and a trip to New York City for the 1st place winner!”  How cool is it going to be watching these people whip up their own special drinks to see WHO can win the Red Cup Showdown?!?!

The Entry requirements were:

Entries must be a coffee beverage, using Seattle’s Best Coffee, choosing from Level 1, 2, 3 (regular or decaf), 4, 5, vanilla or hazelnut and edible, nonalcoholic ingredients of entrants’ choosing. Seattle’s Best Coffee will provide coffee, boiling water, three Melitta pour over brewers (cones and filters) per contestant, ice and blenders available for Participants. Entrants must bring their choice of ground Seattle’s Best Coffee, and edible, non-alcoholic ingredients, to prepare their entry onsite. Entrants will have five minutes to brew and create their recipe during the live competition. Participants may only enter one recipe. Refrigeration is provided for this contest but all items must be in sealed containers and clearly labeled. Check in time is 10:00 – 10:30 am and judging will followed at 11:00 am in the Club House located at the Miller Lite Grandstands. All competitors will receive detailed competition and delivery package in advance to include parking, admission for the competitor and directions to the Club House. Participants will have five minutes to create their delicious coffee drink. Participants will have 60 seconds to present their coffee drink to the judges and tell them what inspired their coffee creation. Entry and recipe must be sufficient for three (3) 6 oz. servings (One for each judge). Entry must include two (2) copies of the recipe used to prepare the entry and the Coffee Drink Inspiration Story.

Five minutes to prepare a drink…OH, the pressure!  And it gets even better!  As if seeing all the inspiring drink recipes weren’t cool enough, how about a little eye candy with the fabulous Chef Jeff Mauro as the host.  (oh, maybe we can get an autograph while we’re checking out the booth)!  And yes…you WILL be seeing my pictures of all the fun we’ll have at the fair!!!!  If you’re in the area…maybe we’ll see you!!!  This is going to be SO much fun!

AND…you can also swing by Walmart and pick up some Seattle’s Best coffee and see how creative YOU can be!
