Three boys, one dog, one chinchilla…Sometimes, you just have to STOP…and Count To Ten.

Did you guys know that Reno, NV is about 5500 feet above sea level…AND in the desert.  That means that our haven’t-seen-the sun-in-a-year-because-we-just-moved-from-rainy-Washington-skin will BURN!

So…we’ve had to stock up on sunscreen.  GEEZ…there are SO many to choose from!

Not only are a bazillion bottles…you NEED to know what you’re looking for in a sunscreen.

Let’s talk about SPF for a moment. I trust these guys’ report – so let me explain how it works.

The SPF number tells you HOW long you can stay in the sun BEFORE getting burned.  If you normally start to burn after 15 minutes of sun exposure, an SPF 15 product will let you stay in the sun for approximately 15 times longer (or 3 1/2 hours) without burning.

NOW…this SPF number tells you the protection from UVB rays ONLY….but, skin can get damaged from UVA rays also.

All the above…AND, add in the new “Helioplex” technology (that means you can apply it to wet skin and it STAYS on!)…we decided to try Neutrogena wet skin. (because they are the ONLY company to have this technology)

AND…it was a good thing we recently grabbed a bottle…because it’s HOT here and we’ve been spending our days lounging lazily at the park.

Yeah…our “lazy days” at the park first entail GETTING there.  The older boys pedal away, leaving me to pull about 50 pounds behind me (I am thankful for the forced work out…)

The big boys start straight away playing basketball.  It doesn’t take long at all before they’re sweating (and probably stinking too!).  SO…I pull out my HANDY DANDY bottle of sunscreen (the Neutrogena wet skin)…and see, CAN I indeed spray it on wet sweaty boys?

YES YOU CAN!  It sprayed on evenly (oh how I can’t stand rubbing lotion on the kids!).  SO, I loved the spray.   I loved that you didn’t have to wipe the sweat off them and it was dry really quickly.

Because…now that they’re shielded from the sun…it’s time to play football (of course!)

Yes…FORCED FAMILY FUN TIME in our house takes THIS long!  Because, if biking, basketball, AND football weren’t enough…they brought their tennis rackets along also.  Lucky for me, the courts were full…but, that didn’t stop Eli from tapping his ball around.

That’s eNOUGH time with the boys.  We’ll come back to play the nine hole course after dinner (when its COOLER).

It was a successful day!  Time with the kids, NO burns, NO fighting….SUCCESS!
