Three boys, one dog, one chinchilla…Sometimes, you just have to STOP…and Count To Ten.

We just returned from our whirlwind trip to Las Vegas.  Not only were we able to FIX my son’s heart, but we were able to do a little shopping.  Walmart had SO many sales on school supplies, that we were able to snag some goodies to donate to the local children’s hospital.  (our whole shopping trip can be seen HERE)

Once we got home, we unloaded out suitcases and Walmart bags.  Time to put these goodies together in a presentable fashion!

(don’t you just LOVE that pink and orange beach bag??)

With all our loot laid out, we really bought a good array of school supplies to donate.  They included:

  • most cute pink/orange beach bag
  • Elmer’s school glue
  • scissors
  • blue ink pens
  • colored pencils
  • Elmer’s glue sticks
  • crayons
  • markers
  • regular old school pencils
  • mechanical pencils
  • construction paper
  • notebook paper
  • composition books
  • binders
  • Elmer’s jumbo paint pens (3-D)

WOW…I can’t believe all the things we were able to get!!  (the kids are going to love it!)  So, once we had everything on the table, it was time to start packing it up!

With our bag all packed, we set out to the Children’s Hospital.  After our recent stay at the hospital, this donation is just melting my heart.  Not only would these supplies be awesome for some of the kids who have to stay longer-term in the hospital and therefore HAVE SCHOOL in the hospital.  BUT, I was also reminded that being in the hospital with one sick kid, makes it almost impossible to do errands for your other kids.  SO, this bag of supplies may go to a family who’s parents have been in the hospital with one child and they haven’t had the time yet to venture out for supplies for their healthy kiddos.  (makes me tear up just thinking about it…because we’ve been in this spot SO many times)

Eli is the chosen delivery man (he’s always my wing man!).  And, he looks quite cute carrying my pink beach bag!!

With the sun shining bright, we take our bag into the Children’s Hospital and hand it over to the ladies at the front desk.  They assured me that they’d get it to the children’s floor and find a special family to give it to.  We told them about Elmer’s Bag it Forward Project and why we chose them as our donation recipient.  (they were shocked and so happy)

With smiles on our face for a good deed done, Eli stops to smell the flowers (even if they are GLASS flowers!)

This was such a WONDERFUL start to our week, and we were SO happy to be a part of this SIMPLE project!
