Sibling Bonds–An AMAZING Discovery

sibling bonds

The Brotherly bond...it's a beautiful thing. When people ask the age of my boys, they seem a little shocked at how far apart they are.  How can they be close to each other or have anything in common with such age gaps??  (they are 18, 10 and 5) In this age of technology, I'll share a little secret and touching moment: Earlier this week, Eli (age 10) asked Chris (age 18), "Chris, can we do something together?  I just want to spend time with you." After careful consideration, Chris … [Read more...]

Laundry and the Hamper–CountingToTen

CountingToTen

MY “CountingToTen Moment” are those rare (or in my house, quite frequent) moments where someone (usually my kids or husband) does something SO outrageous that I have to STOP in my tracks….TAKE a deep breath….and COUNT TO TEN.   IF I don’t do that…I will probably start using my OUTSIDE voice in the house, children will be grounded, husbands will find their pillows on the couch…(you get it). SO…my MOMENT for the day is:   The laundry....and the … [Read more...]

#grabsummerfun

It has been a truly LONG year for our family.  As a family we moved from a small coastal town in Washington to Reno, NV (rain to sun).   I personally had a hernia repair and then my gall bladder taken out.  My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer and then had to have surgery on his shoulder (unrelated events).  AND...to top it all off, Isaac (our youngest special needs son) will need a heart surgery in August.  SO...if there's anyone that's ready to get their summer started and to make … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day Mommy Failure

I am a Valentine's Day Mommy Failure. Back in the DAY...I use to sew cute hearts for my kids classes, fill them with candy and small toys, and make some gorgeous flower arrangement for the teachers. Tonight, Eli had to remind me at 6:00pm that he needed cards for the kids in his class. SO...I rush off to Target (of course) and grab small little boxes of Valentine's with tattoos in them. (they couldn't bring candy to class) I get home...Eli loves them....then, I SUDDENLY realize that I … [Read more...]

Reading the Old Testament in 90 Days

Reading the Old Testament in 90 Days

As part of getting my family "back on track" and preparing our teenager for entering adulthood (GULP)....we've decided to start by tackling the scriptures in 90 day increments.  In our old ward in Las Vegas, we were given this challenge by our Relief Society to read the Book of Mormon in 90 days...and has diligent as I had to be to keep up...it was such an inspiring revelation in my testimony of the Book of Mormon.  As I think daily how to raise my family and to bring up awesome young men...I … [Read more...]
